HKH Walk Run Walk Summer Night Training Week 2 of 12
9th June 2016 @ 6:30 pm - 9:00 pm
I plan on doing a series of 12 training, night hikes during the summer months on Thursday evenings. Now with the first week complete and with 13 attendees I think it was a success. The cooler evenings, coastal sea breeze and dark trails combined to make this a little different. Please feel free to join in with this series at anytime. As the title suggests walk, run, walk – the idea is to challenge ourselves with the pace of these hikes to promote fitness over the 12 weeks. With the help of Venus, the provisional idea is to have two groups, the quicker group lead by Venus and the slower by myself. As this is about training, pushing yourselves is the idea. Having said that I still want people to be able to go at their own managable pace. My idea is to introduce the “Buddy” system so you will pair up with a Buddy of similar ability so you can safely go at the pace that suits you and your Buddy. You must stay with your Buddy throughout the hike, this is for safety reasons and accountability.
My plan is to split the training into 3 sections
4 weeks downhill Pak Kung Au to Mui Wo with two routes of 9.5km and 12km
4 weeks uphill Mui wo to Pak Kung Au 9.5km
4 weeks uphill Mui Wo to Pak Kung Au via coastal path 12km
I suggest keeping your backpacks light
Headtorch is a must along with spare batteries
The hike will finish at the infamous Mui Wo village wall opposite 7/11 in time for the 21.30 ferry to central (sorry but slow ferry). I do not plan to have a social after each event. Having said that, every 4 weeks I will organise a social to evaluate how we are doing and to discuss ideas and to move into the next stage of the training. Ok then and maybe to have a few beers.
Any suggestions please email me firstname.lastname@example.org

Headlamp and spare batteries are a must. If you dont bring them then sorry no hike. It would be a good idea to bring insect repellent for those prone to getting bitten.
